Joining DCE Patiala

Admission to all programmes is on merit, based on the qualifying examination. The process below applies to every undergraduate and postgraduate course except B.Ed., which is filled through state counselling.

1. Collect the form

Obtain the prospectus and application form from the college office, or download it from the admissions counter page.

2. Submit documents

Attach attested copies of your mark sheets, certificates and photographs, and submit at the admission counter.

3. Merit list

Merit lists are displayed on the college notice board and website, programme by programme, with counselling dates.

4. Pay fees

Deposit the fee at the college counter or by bank transfer within the notified window to confirm your seat.

Requirements

Eligibility and documents

General eligibility

  • Undergraduate programmes: a pass in 10+2 from a recognised board, with the stream requirements listed for each course on the programmes page.
  • Postgraduate programmes: a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, normally with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
  • B.Ed.: graduation with at least 50% marks; admission is made through the centralised state counselling process.
  • Candidates awaiting results may apply provisionally and must submit the result before the last date notified.

Documents required

  • Matriculation (10th) certificate as proof of date of birth
  • 10+2 mark sheet and certificate — original plus two attested copies
  • Degree mark sheets and provisional certificate (for postgraduate applicants)
  • Character certificate from the institution last attended
  • Migration certificate, where the last board or university is not Punjabi University
  • Category certificate (SC / BC / EWS / PwD), where applicable
  • Aadhaar card copy and six recent passport-size photographs
  • Gap-year affidavit, if there is a break in study

Reservation

Seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections, differently-abled candidates, sportspersons, and wards of defence and ex-service personnel, as per Government of Punjab and university policy in force for the session.

Beware of touts: the college does not use agents and charges no capitation fee. All payments are made only at the college counter or into the official bank account, against a printed receipt.

Questions we are asked most

Yes. Provisional applications are accepted, and the seat is confirmed once you submit your result within the notified window.

No. Admission to all programmes except B.Ed. is on merit in the qualifying examination. B.Ed. seats are allotted through state counselling.

A change of programme is permitted within fifteen days of the start of classes, subject to seat availability and eligibility in the new course.

Refunds follow the university and UGC refund policy for the session. The security deposit is refunded in full on production of a no-dues certificate.

Hostel seats are limited and allotted on merit and distance from the campus. Apply on the separate hostel form at the time of admission.

Yes. The office issues the bonafide certificate, fee structure and admission letter that banks require, and will liaise with the lender if needed.
